Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North club Kendal Town have announced the signings of centre-back Robbie Williams from Vanarama National League side Barrow AFC and defender Chris Smalley from league rivals Northwich Victoria.

Manchester-based Williams joined the Bluebirds in the summer of 2013 after Hyde and Welsh side Airbus UK Broughton expressed an interest in securing his signature.

Barrow’s switch to part-time status also suited the full-time student who is was then just one year into a three-year Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning degree at Salford University.

Having started out at Welsh Premier outfit The New Saints between the ages of 17 and 21, he then made more than 100 appearances for Altrincham during two seasons between 2009 and 2011. During his stint at Moss Lane he also represented the Welsh under-23 side.

Following Altrincham’s relegation from the Conference Premier he linked up with AFC Telford United, who had just won promotion to non-League’s top flight.

However, after suffering a knee ligament injury before the start of the 2011/12 season he never made a competitive appearance for The Bucks.

After regaining his fitness he was subsequently loaned to Altrincham and then Lincoln City, in January 2012, and saw out the end of that campaign at Sincil Bank.

He moved to then Conference Premier side Hyde at the start of the 2012/13 season, and had two spells there, sandwiched by a six-week stint at Colwyn Bay.

Smalley arrives at Parkside from league rivals Northwich Victoria, who he joined in 2012 from Clitheroe.

He had played over 100 times for the Blues before making the move to Vics.
