Scoring 20 goals before Christmas was always going to make James Walshaw the subject of a transfer rumour or two, but the striker who returned to Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North club….
….Farsley Celtic for the current season, knows where he wants to play his football.
Walshaw played for Darlington in the Football League, as well as spells with Guiseley AFC, Halifax Town, Harrogate Town, and more recently Shaw Lane AFC.
Walshaw said: “I was made an offer to move a back to the Vanarama National League North and I’m not going to lie, it was a tough decision. My decision to stay was down to a number of reasons. Ultimately, I’m back enjoying my football. We’ve assembled a good squad and the dressing room is great. My initial decision was to come to the club and help Farsley get promoted and I just .felt that shouldn’t change. I also had to take into consideration things like the travelling as well.
“I am 100% happy here. Yes, we slipped up on Boxing Day and the Ossett game was a bad day at the office both as a team and personally. I had a couple of chances to get on the score sheet and should have scored. I’m a local lad who lives a few minutes away from the ground and I had friends and family at the game. When results and performances like that occur, the quicker you get the chance to right the wrongs the better.
“With the Goole game being off on Thursday, it’s very disappointing to lose the game to the weather despite the best efforts of a number of the Farsley volunteers which is greatly appreciated by the lads. We’ll be back in training tomorrow in preparation for the Taddy game, which will be another tough game, but one that we know we can win and we’ll be doing everything to make sure we do”.
