Marc Williams` future with Blue Square Bet Premier club Wrexham remains up in the air.
The 22-year-old striker has not yet decided whether to accept a new six-month contract that was offered to him at the start of January and is currently on a week to week deal.
Manager Dean Saunders had been hoping to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes on Monday – he could still make loan signings after that date – but financial restraints are an issue.
And Saunders could withdraw Williams’ contract offer to free up funds if the Wales under-21 international fails to commit his future to the club.
“Obviously Marc is looking for something longer which I can understand,” said Saunders.
“He is only on a week to week contract here at the moment and can walk out any time so I need to know what he is doing.
“I offered Marc a deal until the end of the season at the start of January and am going to have to make a decision on him.
“I have got no money to spend and might have to make some available – things change.”
