Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division club Witney Town have folded due to lack of funds.
Earlier this month, the cash-strapped club were evicted from the Community Stadium because they were unable to pay the rent.
Hellenic League’s general secretary Brian King said: “After seemingly agreeing a package to groundshare with Carterton FC I have in the past days received resignations from the recently appointed officers of Witney Town FC who have handed over responsibility to the trustees of the charity of Witney Town FC Limited.
“Following further lengthy discussions over the past few days with the trustees of Witney Town FC no persons have come forward to offer their services to take over responsibility as Officers of Witney Town Football Club and it is regretted that the resignation of Witney Town FC has been tendered to the Uhlsport Hellenic League. I have been advised that the Liquidation of Witney Town FC Ltd & Witney Town FC (trading) Ltd has been sought.
“It is a sad indictment of the times that a club with the history of Witney Town FC is unable to continue.”
