New FC Halifax Town signings are not just limited to personnel on the pitch, as there has been a summer backroom staff….

….shake-up at The Shay, which sees former Huddersfield Town captain Jon Worthington combine roles of player and physiotherapist at the Conference Premier club.

Worthington, who was largely troubled with an ankle injury throughout last season, takes charge of the medical kit-bag, whilst also retaining player registration with the Shaymen.

Manager Neil Aspin revealed: “We had a physio in Dan Stolworthy. Jon Worthington is someone who I respect and I have got to know him as a player; and he still will be a player as well. He has been taking his degree course in physiotherapy and he was somebody I was keen on in being part of the staff.

“He can combine the roles this year; being on the medical side and also still being registered as a player. He is a good addition. He is very important to us in that he is experienced and he is good with the players. He was doing a lot of it last year and the players were happy working with him.”
