Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North club Ossett Town have beaten over six other clubs – two from higher leagues – to capture the signing of the highly-rated Jason Yates.
Town have been tracking midfielder Yates for the last three months and have announced that he has now taken a decision to leave NPL First Division South side Shaw Lane AFC and move to Ingfield.
Manager Grant Black said: “I am delighted to have secured the signing of Yates after so much competition for his signature and it shows we are doing things right at Ossett Town for a player of his calibre to choose to come to us.
“It is a breath of fresh air for a player to want to play and enjoy his football rather than chase money which shows me as a manager that he is hungry to play games.
“He’s a fantastic player and I feel he will add great quality to our squad. He’s also a great lad and will be a great addition to the dressing room which is something we also look for in players at Ossett Town.”
Yates played in one pre-season game for Ossett before deciding to sign for Shaw Lane back in August. In that game Yates was outstanding as Town won 3-2 against Handsworth Parramore.
Town were disappointed not to capture Yates’ signature back in August but his signing now is a massive coup for the club.
He will go straight into the team for tonight’s home game against in-form Scarborough Athletic.
